We understand that losing a loved one is incredibly difficult. Catholic Funeral Rites can provide support and comfort as you navigate through this challenging time. The Funeral Liturgy consists of three distinct rites: The Vigil, The Liturgy, and The Committal. Each of these rites serves a specific purpose to help you find solace and healing. You have the opportunity — to some degree — to personalize each rite to honor the life of the deceased and provide meaning for those who are grieving.

"The funeral liturgy is the central liturgical celebration of the Christian community for the deceased," (Order of Christian Funerals, no. 128). It is a gathering of the community, family, and friends to give thanks to God for Christ's triumph over sin and death. Through Baptism, we partake in Christ's resurrection, and with the Holy Spirit, we unite in faith.

Planning a Funeral

Specific details regarding the preparation of the body and interment should be done though a funeral home. Planning of the funeral liturgy is done through one of the clergy at St. Margaret Mary Church.

The family has an option to choose one or two readers for the readings from the Old Testament and the NewTestament. Choices for the Old Testament and the New Testament can be found by clicking the link below.
