Junior High Youth Group (Cornerstone)

Our Junior High Youth Group, also known as Cornerstone, is for young people in Grades 6-8.  We aim to provide an opportunity for the junior high school-aged youth of our parish to encounter the Living God and to encourage their full, active, and conscious participation in the life of the Church.  Our goals are to foster personal and spiritual growth in our junior high youth, to provide opportunities for our young people in junior high to learn more about, and grow deeper in their personal relationship with God, and in their Catholic faith, and to provide a place of community, fellowship, and prayer for the junior high youth of our parish.

Our ministry is centered on the scripture of Psalm 118, which says: "The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone."  Too often our junior high youth are overlooked and underestimated in their capacity to understand and embrace a life in Christ.  We truly feel that it is essential to encourage and foster a strong spirituality during this incredibly formative time in a young person's life.  These years for many of them will become the "cornerstone" on which they build their future relationship with Christ, who is meant to be the "Cornerstone" of our lives.

Our junior high ministry addresses issues that pertain specifically to their age group and aims at helping them learn more about their faith in an interactive, fun, age-appropriate, and ultimately, prayerful, atmosphere.  We strive to provide a place for these young people to grow in their faith, and have lots of fun, all centered around Christ & the Church.

We meet on scheduled Friday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Youth Room.
