The Vocation Ministry is dedicated to fostering a spirit of holiness for the purpose of spiritual discernment among the community of St. Margaret Mary, and the local Church through the special intercession of Mary, Virgin, and Mother of God.
Through the fostering of this spirit we hope to inspire others to realize the call of God in their current or future state in life through humble service as a Priest, Religious, Married or Single Life.
SMM community is looking for parishioners and/or family members discerning vocations. If you have a son or daughter presently preparing for religious life in a convent or monastery, or a son discerning in a seminary, please call the church office, 985-643-6124 or email Pam at [email protected], that we may add them to our board of prayer.
St. Margaret Mary also has a Traveling Vocations Chalice. You may have seen it in church on the stand with the statue of St. John Vianney underneath. Members of our parish are invited to sign up to receive the wooden case that contains a consecrated chalice with a book of prayers. Once signed up, parishioners take the chalice home from Mass and put it in a place of honor in their home for one week. Each day, during prayer times (morning, bedtime or at meals), prayers are offered for an increase and perseverance of holy vocations. When you return to Mass the following week, return the case so the next family can receive it at their scheduled time.
